Malignant melanoma

Melanoma, also known as a malignant melanoma, is the most dangerous of all skin cancer types. It develops from the pigment-forming cells in the skin, or melanocytes, which form the pigment melanin and are responsible for the tanning of the skin. Unlike with normal melanocytes, in the case of melanoma the malignant cells reproduce uncontrollably.
